Chinese herbal medicine

Every herbal treatment involves a detailed consultation to provide a balance of herbs finely tuned to each patient’s needs.

Herbal medicine has been used in China for over 3000 years to treat literally everything before the advent of modern medicine. It is still in widespread use, often in conjunction with modern medicines.

Herbal medicine is an internal medicine and as such tends to be used to treat internal conditions such as the things you take modern medicine for. Acupuncture or massage tend to be applied to more external or musculoskeletal issues.

Herbal medicine can be made into ointments, creams and soaks which allows you to apply their ability to heal to aches, sprains and pains.

How does a herbal consultation work?

A herbal consultation involves gathering information about any issues you want me to help with, as well as any background information that might be useful. As with the other methods I practise, the primary goal will be to help with your main complaint, but we can’t ignore any background issues that could be contributing.

Once I have made a diagnosis, I write a prescription, which I send to a herbal pharmacy. These are herbs suppliers who are part of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine’s approved supplier scheme. The herbs will usually be sent directly to you, or you can collect them from my practice.

The herbal medicine I provide comes in granules and powders, which you make up into a tea. This makes them very easy to use, you don’t have to do any kind of special preparation, you just put the right measure into hot water and stir, just as you would with granulated coffee.

It is impossible to list all of the things that I could treat with herbal medicine. If you want to find out whether I can help you, please get in touch either by completing this form, or click on the button below to call me.

If you send me a message, I will respond as soon as I can.
