Why so much inflammation?
Why is some level of inflammation being found to be at the heart of so many conditions?
We live in a culture of inflammation. This isn’t something that’s been with us forever, although elements of it have long been part of our societies. But where we have a culture of excess, certainly in the rich world, we are used to over-stimulation, over-eating, spices, too much meat, alcohol, coffee, drugs (medical and non-medical); with no peace it’s no surprise our systems get revved up.
Good health is predicated on eating the right amount of the right things at the right time (a mindful balance), and doing the right amount of the right things at the right times, including resting.
Empty time, gentle time; know yourself, know your limits and live within them. Be with yourself, at peace, and move away from all that over-stimulation, both of the external senses and the internal. Looking inwardly and with compassion towards yourself, you can calm your body and mind and with it, healing can take place. The degree to which it takes place will depend of course on how badly you’re affected, and to what degree you can slow down, but our bodies want to heal, and anything we can do to help ourselves will eventually take effect.
So slow it down. Walk, meditate, spend time in your own company, learn to let go.
